Introducing the Disconnectable Joint Rack Arm Saddle (DRS Series), a solution from Richards Manufacturing for improved installation efficiency. Specifically designed to provide a snug fit around Disconnectable Joints, the DRS helps ensure easy and secure joint racking. The DRS can be secured using either a cable tie or nut/bolt.
Additionally, the DRS incorporates spacer tabs on both sides to ensure sufficient clearance between adjacent phases. This innovative addition complements Richards’ track record of enhancing Disconnectable Joint technology and streamlining the installation process.
The electric distribution grid of the future will be a modern, integrated system that accommodates distributed energy resources such as rooftop solar, fuel cells, storage, and vehicle-to-grid electric vehicles (EV). This increasingly complex grid must be safe, reliable, and more resilient than ever as we deliver clean and affordable electricity for our future. Southern California Edison boldly proclaims this grid of the future to be the “Re-Imagined Grid.” Other leading utilities worldwide are doing the same. It will not be our “grandfather’s” transmission and distribution (T&D) system built with designs from the 1950s and ’60s, but rather a 21st century grid that employs proven technologies to drive real costs out of the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance (O&M) of T&D assets over their life.
Modern planners and engineers understand the value of analyzing the total cost of ownership as they increasingly demonstrate that underground electrical distribution is the prudent choice for utilities, regulators, customers, and shareholders. Therefore, as the world sets ambitious goals for clean electricity, it must do the same for the new and “re-imagined” distribution grid that delivers that electricity. We submit that we need to achieve 50% underground by 2040.
Dramatic increases in underground installation by 2040 will require proven planning and design tools, innovative construction methods, and progressive O&M practices that use valuable field data to maximize a T&D asset‘s value and extend its usable life. Polywater® is leading the way with user-friendly design software, outstanding cable lubrication products, and a dedication to industry-leading research and development (R&D). Their scientific advances help drive cost from underground systems.
Conductive Ground Enhancement Material that Significantly Reduces Electrode Corrosion
What is ConduCrete? Superior ground enhancement material that helps to significantly reduce structure resistance measurements.
ConduCrete is a conductive cementitious and carbonaceous material that dramatically enhances the performance, reliability, and safety of grounding and corrosion protection systems.
Do you have challenges getting low resistance to ground measurements?
Do you have corrosive soil?
Do you worry about copper theft?
If so, SAE has your solution!
ConduCrete | The Dependable Solution
By using a ConduCrete grounding system compared to traditional methods in use today, you will benefit from:
Increased safety by efficiently dissipating lightning or other surge energy
Better asset performance through reduced ground resistance
More efficient installation by helping to ensure ground resistance targets are met without the need for additional grounding
Decreased theft as ConduCrete Pro can cure into a 4,000psi concrete state
ConduCrete significantly improves grounding system performance and longevity alongside its superior lightning dissipation characteristics. An eco-friendly, maintenance free solution for your grounding needs.
Suitable for installation in any climate, at any time of the year.
TE Connectivity raises the bar when it comes to V0 and animal mitigation covers for substations and overhead lines and equipment
The main, flame-resistant, ingredient in a V0 material is bromine. It works well to keep oxygen out (to help extinguish a flame), but it also compromises the track-resistance properties of a material. TE Connectivity's position has always been to create a material that will not catch fire when subjected to leakage currents, power-arcs, and high-temperatures. With 40+ years of real-world experience, TE has proven that their covers don’t start fires. Their products also do not track and are halogen-free/bromine-free. TE designs their products to last 40+ years, to withstand rigorous UV testing, and a power-arc test. They ensure that their products will not track.
TE was not comfortable creating a V0 material until they could solve the tracking issues…and they have! TE still stands behind their original ‘Raychem’ formulation but understand that some utilities are under compliance pressure to install products that are V0, hence why they decided to create their V0 version, with excellent tracking performance.
TE's V0+ plus material is V0 (UL94) compliant and has excellent tracking performance when tested to the ASTM 2303 Step method (global standard used by insulator manufactures to measure track resistance). As a comparison, they tested the covers of leading manufactures and found that their V0 material would track between 8-18 minutes using the ASTM 2303 testing standard. The NEW TE V0+ material exceeded 180 minutes. This test report is available upon request.
Youngstown’s 14” Expertex® Hybrid Primary Protector is an arc rated, cut resistant and flame resistant protector that is built to ASTM F3258. This new protector standard allows for the use of synthetic materials so long as those materials adhere to certain safety criteria. These synthetic materials are able to enhance the overall safety of the glove while maintaining a lighter weight feel and flexibility.
The innovative protector is Cut Level A5, Puncture Level 5 (Palm) & 3 (Top) and Arc Rated to 29 cal/cm2. The palm is made of high quality water resistant goat grain leather to ensure lasting durability and grip. The top of hand and cuff are made with proprietary FR Woven fabric. The entire interior of the glove is lined with Kevlar® for added cut, flame and arc resistance. The protector also features FR reflective material for increased visibility along with an FR Strap and Fastener.
The Expertex® Hybrid Primary Protector will be available for purchase beginning in August.
